Opening Hours

10am - 7pm

The Communications lead is a vital role within our team, working to ensure that our

activities services, and our hall rental are all communicated and marketed effectively

to as wide an audience as possible. Areas of specific focus will include promoting the

following:

– Our free activities for older people, and for children and families.

– Free or subsidised activities and events run by partners.

– Hire of the spaces within OneStonegrove, to maximise income.

– Our one-off activities and events.

– How people can get involved, primarily through volunteering.

– Other areas such as promoting us with links to national or local events and

days, weeks or months of interest. Recent examples would be Living Wage

Wek, Trustees Week, Black History Month etc.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be working closely with our small staff team, ensuring that our

communications are consistent and as impactful as they can be.

– Updating and developing parts of the WordPress website (assistance and/or

training available).

– Creating content for online, print and social media. Including Canva,

Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

– Creating newsletters, both paper-based and online using Mailchimp.

– Creating posters and flyers for events and activities.

You will have the opportunity to work with others such as the CEO and Chairman to

develop our Communications strategy, as our charity continues to develop and grow.

Other staff will contribute to the above in different ways. Some will make social

media posts, and others might send you content or copy. There is a flexibility in how

you approach this role.

We are looking for someone with good levels of experience, especially around the

mentioned social media platforms. We use Google Workspace for internal and

external communications and collaboration, so experience of this would be desirable,

but not essential as it’s fairly simple to use.

The absolutely essential requirements are:

– Able to work on own initiative, and organise your time effectively.

– Good communication skills, able to work with a variety of staff members and

volunteers.

– Available for between four and five days a month. This can be worked very

flexibly, but we would expect you to be checking messages (Gmail, Google

Chat) and responding twice per week.

This is designed to be a freelance role. We can also explore making this an

employed/PAYE role, where we would then provide a laptop and phone etc. As a

freelance contractor position, we envisage a day rate of around £150, dependent on

experience, and open to negotiation.

There is the potential for this role to develop over time, including an increase in

hours/days.

This role is remote/hybrid, though ideally you would work occasionally from the

OneStonegrove centre, and make some time to meet and get to know the rest of the

staff team in person.

If you are interested in this role contact our CEO Gus Alston for an initial chat:
