I thoroughly enjoyed the training back in January 2020. What I really enjoyed about the training was firstly being able to meet residents I had never met before and secondly how the trainers allowed and created a very respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all of us attendees. I can honestly say that there was no part of the training that I did not enjoy. The practical elements of the training and the Circle listening exercise were extremely engaging, created great awareness and were at the same time good fun!
Following the training I joined the SCT team as a Community Connector, so have been able to make great use of the tools and awareness I gathered at the training event. The listening tools that I’ve used for my community listening events have been paramount and also helped with my role as a Befriender and now supervisor to Volunteer Befrienders during this pandemic. I have no doubt that the training completed will help in my future endeavours in Community Organising and Listening and I look forward to future training events to build on the initial pilot training to further develop my skills and confidence in this arena.
